Born in neighbour country Bulgaria, DENA (pronounced as: DÉNA! ) sings about money, swimming-pools and diamonds. Called “Dena from the block” or “MIA from the Balkans”, she moved to Berlin in 2005, being probably the only Eastern Europe “product” which succeed in taking over the hip publications by her “bling” performances and the productions where the 90s sound-like hip-hop combines in her particular style with the Balkan beats and her outsider-rapper voice, far from being a gag pop or a naive and flashy tribute brought on the American hip-hop altar.

The Guardian wrote even since 2012 in the column New Band of The Week “she’s so now or now-ish”, following the collaboration with The Whitest Boy Alive for the video “Cash, Diamonds and Swimming Pools”, and Pitchfork confirmed her “Flash” album in 2014, saying that “There’s a sense that DENA earned her sly stripes because she's a true music nerd.”
